One month old

So, Zach's one month old! Depending on when you ask us, we can hardly believe he's been here that long and we can hardly believe it's only been a month! The family is getting into the groove of being a threesome.

On Monday, Matt took a new job as a medical recruiter so he's been on paternity leave with Beth since Tuesday. It's been wonderful to have him home during the day. Although Matt has discovered that work was a bit less stressful than being at home all day with a newborn! Matt and Beth both go back to work on July 9th. Ugh! With our time off we are headed to Illinois to see Grandpa Terry and Grandma Cindy and the rest of the family.

Zach is now 9 lbs 4 oz. We think he will smile anyday now. He's trying really hard! At one month old, Zach would rather spend his time standing up looking around than sleeping. He fights to stay awake so he won't miss anything. He gets that from his Dad! He enjoys Baby Mozart and playing under his gym.

3 weeks old

Zach is 3 weeks old today. He is looking more and more like a little man everyday. His umbilical cord fell off yesterday. He is now fully healed from birth! Today will be his first "real" bath. Mom is waiting for Dad to get home from work first!

Beth thinks that in this picture Zach looks a lot like Grandpa Terry. Anyone else?

Zach arrives 5/22/07

Zachary Ryan Trout was born at 2:04 p.m. at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano. He weighed 6 lbs. 7 1/2 oz. and was 18 1/2 inches long. The delivery was a breeze! We were induced at 7:30 a.m. Dr. Riegal broke Beth's water at 9:30 a.m. and we were ready to go at 1:45 p.m. Only 19 minutes later, Zachary arrived into the world! Thanks for being so easy on your mom, Zach!

Zach was put on soy formula because he was having trouble keeping down the regular formula. Since the switch he has been doing great. He left the hospital at 6 lbs. 4 oz. and when he went to the Dr. for his 1 week appointment he weighed 6 lbs. 13 oz. Now, that's good eatin'.

Since he has been home he has been nothing but a joy. He entertains himself so mom can make dinner. He has been sleeping 3-4 hours at night. He likes to take walks with mom in the afternoon and play with dad when he gets home from work. He enjoys taking baths at night as well. Mom and Zach have been running daily errands and he seems to sleep through them all!

Beth is doing well. She has made a full recovery (for those of you worried!!) She is headed back to work on July 9th. Matt is a wonderful father to Zach. He feeds him, changes dirty diapers, and plays with him. Zach and mom are very lucky!
